Axemen Down St Thomas 7-2 for First Road Win in Young Season
The Acadia Axemen had their first road test Friday night, hitting the road
to take on the St Thomas Tommies in Fredericton, NB, and skated away with a 7-2 victory.
STU took the early lead in the first periodl on a goal from Brendan Childerley, but Liam Heelis replied before the end of the first with a shorthanded marker.
The second period was a deadlock until 13:48 when Michael Clarke put the Axemen up 2-1, but the lead didn’t last long as STU scored on the powerplay on a goal by Colin Martin.
With the teams squared up at two going into the third, it was all Acadia from there as they went on to score five unanswered goals, including three on the powerplay.Read more »
